Nashville, TN – Friends and family of country star Craig Morgan are waking up to devastating news. An official press release issued by his management now confirms Craig’s 19 year old son, Jerry, has been found. Jerry was involved in a tubing accident Sunday afternoon on Kentucky Lake in Humphrey’s County.
The news started circulating slowly on social media late Sunday night around midnight. Craig’s friends and a few others in the music industry began posting their request for prayers during that time.
There are few details about what exactly happened, but we do know two men collided while tubing. Both were wearing life jackets and fell into the water, however, Jerry never resurfaced. Search crews were on the scene all evening, and according to a press release the rescue mission turned into a recovery effort Monday morning.
On Sunday at least five search boats were on the water helping in the search until the evening. The sheriff’s office requested assistance from other rescue organizations and used up to 5o boats to search for the teen.
Country music stars and close friends like John Michael Montgomery started to reacting on social media. Mark Wills posted his heartfelt reaction on twitter. Jerry’s friends and former high school coaches also turned to twitter to share their concern. Craig Campbell asked everyone to send prayers.
Craig and his wife, Karen Greer, have two other sons, Kyle and Wyatt and a daughter, Alex. Family members were at the scene Sunday, but their names were not officially released until Monday.
